"Who would have thought it strange that all of us would change"

With Waterford being thrown into a fit of 'Madness' this summer with the Daytripper festival I can tell you it's going to be a great honour and privilege to be playing alongside, before and with the band during what has to be the musical highlight of the year in Waterford.

DAYTRIPPER is a new 3 day music festival for Waterford, taking place at Bolton Street in the historic Viking Triangle and, as the name suggests. hopes to bring music fans from the South East and beyond into Waterford for 3 days of top quality entertainment, with music for all tastes.

The event will have headline acts that have sold out 15,000 tickets at Dublin’s 02 venue in recent time. Each day will have a support line up of 4 other great live acts, including some brilliant bands from Waterford.

Running from June 28 – 30 on a specially constructed stage in Bolton Street, Waterford, Friday’s honours are taken care of by Imelda May with The Coronas bringing things to a triumphant close on Sunday and I'm proud to say that I'll be there, right in the middle of it!Madness

As one of Britain’s most consistent singles bands ever, Madness were frequently under-rated by ‘serious’ critics on the rather patronising grounds that they seemed to be enjoying themselves a bit too much and therefore couldn’t be regarded as heavyweight contenders. It may be a long time ago since the Nutty Boys from Camden Town burst onto the scene with the likes of ‘The Prince’, ‘One Step Beyond’ and the eponymous ‘Madness’, but they remain as potent a force as ever with their current Oui Oui Si Si Ja Ja Da Da album up there with their best.

DAYTRIPPER is being presented and promoted by Forum Waterford in association with WLRFM and Beat 102 103. The Forum has over 20 years experience of bringing great live music to the city and this event has been put together with the support and encouragement of Waterford City Council and we thank them for that.
